Weekly Principal’s Message from Dr. Elizabeth Battle 9-18-16

Good Afternoon!  This is Elizabeth Battle, principal of Daniels Middle School with some announcements for next week!

Please remember to refer to our Daniels Magnet Middle School Website for school information.  Here are next week’s upcoming events:

Monday, September 19
Donations/orders/money due for the PTA Fundraiser.  NJHS executive board members will meet during lunch in the student services conference room. There will be a Science Olympiad Interest Meeting from 3:15 – 3:45.

Tuesday, September 20
NJHS will meet from 3:10 – 3:45.  The FBLA will meet from 3:30 – 4:30.

Wednesday, September 21
There is a makeup meeting for NJHS at 12:10.  The Battle of the Books will meet from 3:30-4:30 and we play Dillard Drive in a home soccer and volleyball game beginning at 4:00.  There is an informational meeting for Dance in the collaboration room from 3:30-4:15. Students please have your rides here by 4:15.

Thursday, September 22 
We travel to Dillard Drive for our first football game of the season beginning at 4:00.

Friday, September 23
Summer Community Service hours are due and the robotics club meets from 3:00 – 4:30.

Thursday, October 6
First student council meeting from 3:15-4:15 in room 1213 for current members.

Parents – If you plan to volunteer at Daniels, please note that all continuing volunteers approved for the 2016 -2017 school year MUST reactivate as a volunteer no later than 4:00 p.m. on October 31, 2016. Volunteers may go to the Daniels Media Center or any WCPSS site and register through the intranet.  After October 31, individuals previously approved may not volunteer without a new criminal record check.

PowerSchool Demographic/Contact Verification forms have been sent home with your student. Please mark any corrections on the form, sign the form, and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher. Even if there are no updates to the demographic/contact information, sign and return the form. Please remember that students can only be released to contacts listed in PowerSchool.

Please consider volunteering at the Daniel’s Front Desk. This is a fun way to meet our community and support the Daniel’s staff. We need volunteers to sign up to work their chosen shifts M-F 10am-1pm. We have created a sign up on “SignUp.com”. Sheets with an explanation on how to access our sign up form are located at the front desk.

Parents – If you need to check out your student during the school day for an appointment, please have your student bring a note to the main office before school starts. The office staff will give your student a yellow pass to show their teacher at the time they need to leave class. This will expedite the check-out process for you and your student.  Please remember to bring a photo ID.
The 2016-2017 Student/Parent Handbook is now online in English and Spanish.  It can be found at www.wcpss.net/handbook or by going to wcpss.net and clicking on the Parents Section.
