Weekly Principal’s Message – June 3, 2016
Good Afternoon! This is Elizabeth Battle, principal of Daniels Magnet Middle School with some announcements for next week!
Attention 6th & 7th Grade Parents! We will be offering our summer reading program again this school year, in an attempt to help prevent our students from experiencing “the summer slide”, which is a deterioration of reading skills during the 10 weeks that the students are out of school. This year’s program is called “5 & 5” and more information can be found on our website. Last year, only thirty 7th graders and nineteen 8th graders participated in the summer reading program. Please consult the brochure posted on our website entitled “Summer reading: where the real damage occurs” by Jim Trelease, if you are interested in learning more about the impact of students’ avoidance of reading while on break. Each student, including our rising 6th graders, will receive a summer reading log before the school year ends. Thank you for your support!
All rising 9th parents if your child will be attending a Private or Charter, or moving out of state or out of county for the 2016-2017 school year please email Jocelyn Rossi at firstname.lastname@example.org with your child’s first name, last name, and what school your child will be attending ASAP. We need to have this information so that we will know not to send your child’s records to their base High School and so the students on the wait list can removed. Thanks so much for your help with this matter.
If you have not turned in Pictures or Picture money, please have your child do that this week. Not doing so could result in your child not receiving his or her report card.
Please ask your child about textbooks and library books. We need those returned ASAP.
